Hi, I downloaded DataDirect 4.0 ODBC drivers because i want to test them before we buy them. Unfrotunatelly I'm having throubles connecting to the Progress Database residing on a server running SCO UNIX OpenServer 5!!! I'm trying to create a data source and test it but I get the following error message when i hit the button "Test connect": [MERANT][ODBC PROGRESS driver]"msgOpen unable to open message file : PROMSGS"
My ODBC client's OS is Windows 98. I have added in my autoexec.bat lines for setting env. variables:
SET DLC="C:\Program Files\PROGRESS" SET IDLC="C:\Program Files\PROGRESS" SET PROMSGS="C:\Program Files\PROGRESS\promsgs" SET IPROMSGS="C:\Program Files\PROGRESS\promsgs" SET PATH=%DLC%\bin;%DLC%;"C:\Progra~1\Merant\ODBC40\Drivers";"C:\Program Files\Merant\ODBC40\Drivers";%PATH% SET TEMP=c:\temp
I tried also the following without any luck: SET DLC="C:\Progra~1\PROGRESS" SET IDLC="C:\Progra~1\PROGRESS" SET PROMSGS="C:\Progra~1\PROGRESS\promsgs" SET IPROMSGS="C:\Progra~1\PROGRESS\promsgs"
I even moved the file promsgs to the main folder c:\ and set env. vars accordingly but this didn't help either. SET PROMSGS="C:\promsgs" SET IPROMSGS="C:\promsgs"
What could be the reason for this error? Why the driver can not find PROMSGS? It is there! I double checked it!!!!
Is it case sensitive search? But this is Windows 98 and I think it shouldn't be case sensitive...
Any ideas? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!
SET PROMSGS=C:\Program Files\PROGRESS\promsgs SET IPROMSGS=C:\Program Files\PROGRESS\promsgs
Also double check that after you rebooted the system, the environment variables are actually set (by typing the following command in your command window: set) and you can see the contents of the file when typing the followong command in your command window:
echo %PROMSGS% echo %IPROMSGS%
If that does not help (and you rebooted the system), download filemon from www.sysinternals.com to see where the driver attempts to load the promsgs file from on win98.
